Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate, hands-on Senior Engineering Manager to drive the evolution of our engineering organization and scale our core platform infrastructure. This is a high-impact, foundational leadership role designed for an exceptional technical leader who excels at the intersection of people management, architecture, and execution. Initially, you will be directly hands-on, managing a multidisciplinary team of 6–8 engineers encompassing backend, frontend, and operations/platform domains.
As a key catalyst for our expansion, your responsibilities will grow over time. You will drive the strategy to scale, and manage multiple specialized engineering teams, making this a spectacular opportunity to shape the engineering culture from an early stage and grow directly alongside the company.
Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership & Scaling: Manage, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing, cross-functional team of 6–8 backend, frontend, and platform engineers. Drive the long-term hiring strategy, interview loops, and onboarding pipelines to expand the engineering team.
- Customer Success & Issue Triage: Work closely with the Customer Success team to serve as the front line for triaging customer issues, quickly assessing problems, and engaging engineers as needed to ensure swift resolution and maintain a customer-first mindset.
- On-Call Leadership: Act as a critical tier in the on-call escalation path. Take ownership of the engineering operational response, helping to drive, refine, and continuously improve the team’s overall on-call process and incident management playbooks.
- Technical Steering & Execution: Maintain a strong hands-on presence, participating in system design, architecture reviews, and technical execution across our distributed SaaS platform. Act as a bridge between frontend, backend, and platform architectures.
- Delivery & Agile Operations: Take end-to-end ownership of project delivery pipelines, ensuring close alignment with product management and security subject matter experts to execute the technical roadmap.
- Engineering Culture: Cultivate an inclusive, highly collaborative, and transparent engineering culture that prioritizes continuous learning that is rooted in quality, and a strong commitment to sustainable team growth.
Qualifications
- Management Experience: 5–8 years of direct engineering management experience leading multi-disciplinary teams within a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, with a proven track record of managing performance and successfully scaling engineering organizations.
- Technical Foundation: 8+ years of total software engineering experience. Strong technical roots in building large-scale, multi-tenant cloud architectures (ideally AWS and Azure). High comfort level with distributed systems, large data pipelines, or platform engineering concepts.
- Full-Stack & UX Familiarity: Solid conceptual understanding of modern web application development (e.g., React.js, Node.js) and complex data visualization paradigms to guide full-stack and frontend engineers effectively.
- Soft Skills: Executive-level communication capabilities, excellent problem-solving frameworks, and a mentor-first mindset dedicated to empowering engineers.
